From LegacyFire Apparatus Facebook page:
Congratulations to the Town of Cicero, IL and the Cicero Fire Department on the purchase of two quick delivery Sutphen rigs. A custom pumper and a 100’ mid-mount aerial quint. Thank you for your continued trust in the Sutphen Corporation and in Legacy Fire Apparatus. Both rigs will arrive in 2025.
thanks Martin

They’re keeping a tiller and they should have the new Seagrave tiller by the end of 2025 and the new rig and truck that they just bought was from covid funds that apparently they were hiding and had to be used in one week before Christmas so that is why they purchased these two rigs which really will not be a good fit for the town but they spent $4 million and they had to spend the money in one week or they were going to lose 23 million from the whole town.. so in typical Cicero fashion they bought whatever they could get.. at the last minute. Cicero except for their tiller has never truly spec’d out a rig they just buy whatever is there at the last minute…

Way to go Ben Brown and Legacy Fire. The mid mount is similar to Blue Islands truck and both towns have numerous viaducts to contend with. Sutphens are battle ships and quick delivery doesn’t hurt either. Good luck to Cicero going forward.

I’m guessing the current sutphens are holding up well since they’re buying 2 more. The only reason the tiller isn’t a sutphen was because they’re buying couldn’t get the length reduced for it to fit into the firehouse. So minus the seagrave tiller, the entire fleet will be sutphen by the end of 2025.

I’m guessing that these were destined for another department originally with he quick turnaround, or were they demos?

RJ, I believe this will be replacing Truck 1, the Dash CF. Cicero has a Seagrave tiller on order to replace their Eone tiller, Truck 2.

Anyone know how their first couple sutphens are holding up? Big change going from a tiller to a midmount quint? Anybody know why
