4-Alarm fire in Calumet Park, 12-8-17

This from Eric Haak:

I arrived at this incident in Calumet Park just short of an hour and a half after the first in engine. The rear of the building was brought under control about 10 minutes after I arrived and after that, there was not much firefighting left to shoot other than rigs.

Calumet Park house fire, 7-21-14

This from Eric Haak:

The Calumet Park Fire Department received a report of a structure on the 12400 block of South Honore at about 1920 hours on Monday evening (7-21-14).  Response time for the first engine and truck was less than two minutes.  Companies arrived to find the occupants outside and a fair amount of smoke pushing from the front door.  Companies made entry and quickly found the seat of the fire to be in a back bedroom.  Within three minutes of arrival, the Calumet Fire Department had the fire knocked down and held in check.  The fire did not extend to any other rooms or the attic.  Posen, Midlothian, Merrionette Park and Riverdale went auto-aid.

Dolton 3rd Alarm fire 7-20-13

This from Eric Haak:

At approximately 1450hrs on Saturday, the Dolton Fire Department responded to a fire in a large storage shed on a vacant industrial property at 142nd & Cottage Grove.  The photos in this gallery were taken about 1-hour into the incident.  Companies had long lead-outs as working hydrants were scarce on this stretch of road.  Calumet City Tower 309 and Lansing Tower 107 were both in use at the scene.  Riverdale Engine 836 had a hydrant at the corner of 142nd and Cottage Grove and fed Burnham Engine 2016.  South Holland Engine 669 was on Cottage Grove at the entrance to the complex with a hydrant as well.  Also pictured is Phoenix Engine 1708 in staging which is the old Engine 72 of Chicago.  The “72” is still clearly visible on the door.  There was also a request for HAZMAT advisers to the scene.  The incident was eventually raised to a 3rd alarm which actually occurred after I left the scene.

Riverdale Fire Department apparatus updates

Dennis McGuire, Jr. tells us the following:

Riverdale has traded in their Pierce engines for twin E-Ones which went thru Fire Service.  One of the Pierce engines (831) was sold to Joplin, Missouri. The other engine (830) was supposedly sold to a department downstate.
Also the 1971 Snorkel from Oak Forest is no longer on the roster and is in the process of being sold to a business in Crestwood that has plans to rebuild it into a memorial truck.
