Park Ridge house fire 2-15-14

This from Larry Shapiro:

Calls reporting a house fire at 102 S. Chester came in to the Park Ridge Fire Department shortly before 10AM on Saturday (2-15-14). After spotting a header while in route, units arrived at the house on the corner of Chester and Garden to find the back porch on fire and a worker with burn injuries. The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire. Engine 35 encountered a frozen hydrant at the corner, so firefighters hand jacked hose from the Tower 36 to another hydrant half a block south of the incident.

Companies made quick work of knocking down the main fire, and found that there was minimal communication to the second floor. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire, apparently in the final stages of remodeling.

Units at the scene were Park Ridge Engine 35, Tower 36, both Park Ridge ambulances and Battalion 35. Rosemont and Niles responded with trucks, Morton Grove with a squad, Norwood Park and North Maine with engines, plus ambulances from Lincolnwood and Elk Grove Village.

I arrived well after the fire was out and have images of the scene.

Norwood Park Box Alarm, 1-28-14 (more)

This from Steve Redick:

Here are the photos to match the previous video. From what I was told the fire involved the chimney and wood burning stove in the basement, and the fire ran up to the attic. Make no mistake it was bitter cold, several degrees below zero. It was tough to do anything. Finally got some shots of the new rig working. This was a done deal in very short order.

Still alarm fire in Schiller Park 7-18-19

This from Mike Lopina:

Schiller Park FD - 10511 W United Parkway
Driving north on I-294 and saw a header & heard traffic on fireground that indicated a fire in/on the roof. Bldg at 10511W United Pkwy is a 1sty non combustible 350x150. Looked like it was going to become an extra alarm fire from the tollway, but by the time I made my way there (10 minutes), it was out, companies had made a great knock and contained the fire to a rooftop HVAC unit with some extension to the roof deck. In addition to Schiller Park Eng 5, TL 5, Amb 5 & BN 5; Franklin Park Trk 2, Leyden Qnt 133, Norwood Park Eng 101 & Franklin Park BN 490. Awesome job by the crews working; especially considering the heat.
