New engine for Evanston

The new engine for Evanston Station 25 was mentioned HERE with a Pierce image. Larry Shapiro submitted a few images of the new engine since it’s been delivered.
Evanston Engine 25 has a 2013 Pierce Arrow XT with a 1,500-GPM pump, 500 gallons of water, and 15 gallons of foam in an on-board tank. Larry Shapiro photo

The Glenview Fire Department was notified by a resident that the house at 1531 Maple Street was on fire. Companies arrived and reported smoke from the attic and upgraded the alarm to a Code 4 (working fire). Glenview was at the scene with four engines, two ambulances, the truck, and three chief officers. Mutual aid was an engine from Northfield, a truck from Niles, a squad from Morton Grove, and the Northbrook battalion chief.
The truck went to ventilate the roof and two lines were used from Engine 8. The fire was extinguished with 15 minutes of the upgrade and damage to the home was not extensive. Here are several images from Larry Shapiro.

This is a place I very seldom get out to … I was halfway close so I took a ride. They were planning for something big I guess, but it was over when I arrived. I suspect some kind of machinery fire. I did manage to get some decent rig shots, and I experimented with a little fill flash too. I have never really seen the 2-piece Carol Stream Squad … kinda neat. The shots of the Lombard engine hooked up to the hydrant will make a good entry in my Suburban Rigs at Work Volume 2 someday …

Made a trip up to Pierce Wednesday to check on Skokie’s new Engine 17 ( 2013 Dash CF, 1500/500 PUC) should take delivery mid January. Also Evanston’s new engine and a squad for Posen where up there. Jeff R.
