Working fire in Chicago, 11-23-19

This from Eric Haak:

Companies from Chicago’s 6th Battalion responded to the report of a house fire just before dawn on Saturday, November 23rd at 6545 S Oakley.  Per PD at the scene, the fire was already well advanced in the rear of the structure. Police officers were met with the report of someone trapped inside but could not make entry due to heavy smoke conditions.  A victim was eventually located and transported, succumbing to his injuries later that day.

Box Alarm in Brookfield, 6/25/15

This from Josh Boyajian:

Yesterday afternoon Brookfield had a Box Alarm @ 3308 s Sunnyside. First-in companies reported heavy smoke showing from the attic. Companies made a good push but couldn’t get it, and command backed everyone out due to the conditions present and went defensive. There were four hand lines working and Riverside’s truck was ready to go. Here are some shots.

Chicago 4-11 Alarm fire 11-15-13 (pt2)

This from Larry Shapiro:

I took in the 4-11 yesterday at Peterson & Lincoln. Was on the highway when they dispatched the still alarm and had a hunch it would be worthwhile to head that way. The Box Alarm was about the time of the first image here (through the windshield) and the 2-11 was as I jumped out of the car in traffic half a block away. My wife, being the good sport that she is, parked the car and sat.

Engine 71 had a deck gun going in Sector 4 on Albany and I just missed Truck 56 with their Spartan ladder to the 1-4 roof. It was backing out as I got to that side … was hoping to see it up and working for two reasons. First, I’ve yet to photograph one of these aerials at a working fire, and second was the fact that the last fire I remember at this center, a Still & Box Alarm, was the day before they were to turn in their Seagrave to pickup the Spartan.

Eventually, 71 had to move as the electric transformer on the 3-4 corner exploded violently from the massive fire storm that was active where they were working.

A third tower ladder was added to the alarm as were two additional truck companies. The fire crossed one firewall on the eastern edge of the center and was basically stopped at the next one between the mattress store and hair shop.

I am working a a video which will post when it’s completed.

This from reader Eric Haak:

Still & Box Alarm @ 47th and Knox on June 27th.  Engine 34 pulled up just before 1:45 pm to the Right Away Pallet Company and within 2 minutes called for the box.  The area involved was a 125 x 125 storage lot stacked tight with 10-foot tall columns of pallets.  Engine 34 fed Tower Ladder 54 inside the company’s yard while Truck 52 pulled into a lot to the west of the involved area and was fed by Engine 123.  Tower Ladder 39 set up in the empty parking lot to the south of the pallet yard and was fed by Engine 32.  A total of 5 lines were used to bring the blaze under control and 2-2-5 struck out the box @ 2:38.
