This from Drew Smith:
It was stated recently by firefighters from both Itasca and Wood Dale that both will soon be dispatched by DuComm with Wood Dale using new rig numbers of 68 and 69 and Itasca using 60-something.
I have confirmed that effective 5/31 at 0900 Itasca will switch to DuComm. Itasca’s apparatus will use “66” for front-line units and “67” for reserve units.
Wood Dale is also switching to DuComm and will use 68 and 69 for their stations. Date of their switch is not confirmed.

The DuComm police side is Trunked. DuComm’s fire channels will be rebroadcast on the current VHF frequencies as a redundant back up to a Starcom system that has gotten better since it’s inception, but isn’t perfect. This rebroadcast is a way to prevent what happened to places like Plainfield Police, where the Starcom went off line for upward of 15 minutes in the past.

Any info on police radio listening for Eastern DuPage County?
470.887 for Elmhurst/OBT & 470.387 for Lombard/Villa Park are dead air now … I had heard they were getting $10,000 radios where the frequency would change/scramble each radio transmission…

Chris R., Kankakee County is not all digital. They are not digital at all. They tone out on 154.325 and then respond on an analog 800 MHz trunked system. The city of Kankakee does both dispatch and response on the trunked system.

I was told in march that OAK BROOK had been approved by the other FIRE EAST fire departments and would move this summer sometime, also check wwwradioreference.com. They are a good website to find local radio information. I haven’t heard or read anything about ducomm fire departments going full time on starcom 21, but i heard they might dispatch on vhf and when enroute switch to starcom. Then you look at counties like KANKAKEE county that have gone all digital, so who knows.

Great, as if DuComm hasn’t been fumbling enough lately, they are adding more call volume and departments. Get what you dispatch now right before you add more jurisdictions…

When is Oak Brook switching? So far no announcement or date for the West Channel freq change. What about the “talk” that DuComm may go to Starcom for all FDs?

more ducomm info. OAK BROOK switching to ducomm fire east on 154.415, and fire west was supposed to switch to 154.145. 154.145 is currently input to 154.415, but changing to 159 number for input and then switch fire west to 154.145, to get rid of indiana porter county. They probaly switch when fire departments get new p25 radios .

Looks like Itasca (Sta 66) and Wood Dale (Sta 68 & 69) will follow the DuPage County numbering system recently set up as part of the DuPage Fire/Rescue Alliance.
