Excerpts from abc7chicago.com:
A fire broke out at one of the apartments in an independent living center Wednesday afternoon in the 1100 block of Iroquois Drive in Naperville. The apartment complex houses a number of people with disabilities who have limited mobility. There are multiple wheelchair-bound people who live there.
The Naperville Fire Department received the first alarm around 2 p.m. that there was smoke coming from the second floor of the building. Firefighters immediately requested a box alarm for both fire suppression assets and ambulances. They helped rescue one person from a second-floor unit, and were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
No serious injuries were reported and no one initially needed to be transported to a hospital.
