Lockport Township Fire District news

Excerpts from Lockport Township Fire Protection Districts Facebook page:
#chicagoareafire.com; #LockportTownshipFD;The Lockport Township Fire District would like to share some exciting news about the future site of the Training and Maintenance Facility. This 13-acre site, generously donated by the State of Illinois, is located near the Stateville Correctional Center on Division St in Crest Hill. Once complete, the facility will serve as a cutting-edge, regional Public Safety Training Facility equipped with the latest technology. It will also house an emergency vehicle maintenance facility.

Our goal is to ensure that Lockport firefighter/paramedics receive the best training in tactics and procedures for emergency situations such as fire, EMS, water rescue, technical rescue, auto extrication, search & rescue, and hazardous materials emergencies. This facility will greatly enhance our fire operations. We will be able to relocate all specialty team equipment to Station #6, which is in the center of the fire district which will lead to reduced response times for critical emergencies.

Moreover, the maintenance facility will enable us to expand our vehicle maintenance program by offering services to other emergency response departments. This will help supplement taxpayer dollars, ensuring more effective operations.

In addition, this property will include a 100-yard outdoor gun range designed and operated by the Lockport police department.

Stay tuned for more updates and details about this exciting project!
thanks Hunter

The loans are no or low interest and are made available through the Fire Truck Revolving Loan Program and Ambulance Revolving Loan Program. The loan programs are meant to assist cities and departments buy vehicles they otherwise might not be able to afford.

Across Illinois, 19 communities received funds for new firetrucks, and six communities received funding for new ambulances.

North Park Fire Protection District news

Excerpts from wifr.com:

North Park Fire Protection District officially broke ground Monday on its new fire station located at 1011 Harlem Road in Machesney Park.

The new building is expected to be finished in a year, will be 20,000 square feet, have private bunk rooms for the firefighters, larger classrooms, and will allow for more community involvement during fire events.

Officials say it will replace three existing buildings which all date back to the 1950?s and 60?s. The new facility will be less expensive to operate, have more space for fire equipment, and will allow for a faster response time to the community.
