MABAS 21: thanks for the info on the new 6-8-7. So they’ll be getting whole new rig? I thought they’ll just get a new chassis for the old box.

I know here that Wauwatosa Station 1 has the type of doors that open sideways but that station opened in 2010 so I wonder if older stations/houses can be fitted with those. Just my 2.57 cents.

Those roll up bay doors are very common on the old east coast and Detroit firehouses.
On another CFD topic, I read in FAJ that E-One will be building the new 6-8-7.

Mitch, because the engines won’t fit without them. The old houses were not designed for the size of today’s apparatus. So they have to improvise to make the engines fit. Hence why it is a roll up door, on the outside of the building.

Why did they start putting CHI rolling doors on these older houses? They are way more expensive than your normal overhead sectional door. Just wait until those springs break in the tube and that door isnt going anywhere and neither is that engine. Great looking shot and I even like the red rollup.

Are the Engines 2017 or 2018 models? Also what kind of door is on Engine 94’s house anyway?

as far as I concderned for Chicago that is a unique rollup garage door but when u see them all over the place in florida then I would say it would be boring

Crabby, I agree with you that the photo of Engine 94 would make an excellent picture post card. Even that house next door looks good.
One of the unique things about Engine 94’s house is it’s location on a side street in the middle of a residential area. Even though there are a few other stations located on side streets, most are usually half block or less from a major artery. Engine 94’s house is 2 blocks from a major street. It is almost equal distance between Irving Park and Addison and 2 blocks in between Central and Austin. It would be good to see them become an ALS engine.

Oh. Well I thought having it in front of quarters was a good shot for an apparatus.
Hehe most fire stations/ houses have doors in front last time I checked.
No problem Marty to each his own as they say.

I’ve noticed that engine 68 has a spare again… Why Is that? Engine 68 was back for 2 months and then now engine 68 is using D540…

If there was ever a CFD apparatus picture post card for all time, this would be one of the top ones.
Perfectly posed EONE in front of quarters.
