Sutphen isn’t close to the top of the quality/price point leaders. If anything they’re a middle of the road/ bargain brand. Not saying they’re bad, but they ain’t no Seagrave or Pierce

I second Crabby on this one Love a solid red unit and the Mars 888 light. Good work Ben Brown.

Nice view looking back at you.Truly a great combination of modern and classic! Looks like a basic no frills engine I love the name on the front “war
wagon”……….Sutphen still a family owned company

I am surprised to see that Maywood ordered a Sutphen as Sutphens which are considered to be very high quality rigs overall, I would also would guess that they would have a high price tag and Maywood is not known to be a wealthy suburb to say the least. There are several wealthier suburbs that had at one time used Sutphens and are no longer using them in frontline service.
The one town that I had specifically in mind is Wheeling Illinois that at one time had been using two Sutphen Engines in frontline service plus a large (100 foot) mid mountedTower Ladder from Sutphen which was replaced by a rearmunted Rosenbaurer. The last time I had heard they still had a Sutphen Engine as a reserve unit. I know that some fire departments will now least apparatus in some cases.

Now that’s something you don’t see much anymore. An actual solid red rig and red painted wheels. Then on top of everything else. a red MARS light.
Love that signature SUTPHEN front clip and will look even better when they finish building it.
