Tim Olk had the good fortune to get the bulk of the Glenview Fire Department front line fleet assembled for a historic photo. Pictured are Truck 14, Engines 6,7,8,13, Battalion 6, and Ambulances 6 and 8. Ambulance 7 was called away for an EMS run and the balance of the fleet represents the department reserve units.

Karl Klotz took in a fire this afternoon in Frankfort. He reports the following:
Frankfort full-still 11/22/2011: 20111 Rosewood Drive. Frankfort Truck Co. 2 arrived to find this two-story, frame dwelling well involved in the front portion. The fire appeared to have started in the garage area of the dwelling. Crews made an aggressive defensive attack before making entry into the dwelling. No injuries were reported, but several cats were rescued from the fire. Companies from Frankfort, Matteson and Manhattan responded to the scene.

The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District received their new 2011 Pierce Arrow XT 105′ quint this month. Karl Klotz photographed the new Truck 53 prior to it going into service. The new quint sports the department’s new color scheme replacing the white roof with black.
The new Pierce will replace a 100′ Seagrave quint on a single rear axle.
Several area fire departments have recently received new units:
- The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD recently received their new 105′ Pierce Quint for Truck 53
- West Chicago received a 2011 Pierce Impel pumper
- The Northbrook Fire Department has a new ambulance from Medtec for station 11.
The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD is expecting delivery of their new Pierce 105′ quint next week. It will be black over red with a black ladder similar to the new truck in Homewood.
In addition, the first of the existing Lincolnshire-Riverwoods units to have the white roof repainted black is Engine 51 which recently came back from the paint shop. Engine 52 is due to go out for bodywork and a new black roof shortly.

As mentioned in previous posts HERE and HERE, the Homewood Fire Department and the Hillside Fire Department both received new rear mount aerials from Pierce. Ryan Wyckoff was kind enough to submit photos of both from his visit to Pierce last month. As of Monday, Pierce has posted the following images along with many others on the Pierce Flickr site.
The Homewood Fire Department in MABAS Division 24 is about to take delivery of a 2011 Pierce Arrow XT HD 105′ rear mount quint. The truck was spotted this week at Pierce by Ryan Wyckoff. Matching the rest of the Homewood units it is painted black over red, but instead of a white ladder as they had previously, the new ladder is painted black and the breakaway fly-section is bright green. According to Ryan …
… I found out that this is the last one to have a black ladder since NFPA no longer allows ladders to be painted black.
Ladder 550 is replacing a 1987 Pierce 105′ rear mount quint on a Lance chassis with an extra long cab.
