The Kankakee Township FPD has been added to the site. Located in MABAS Division 7 in Kankakee County, they cover 18 square miles out of two stations. 18 paid-on-call firefighters have three engines, a tender, a brush truck, and a utility used as an EMS chase car.

The Kankakee Township FPD is having an open house at Kankakee Township’s Fire Station #1 on Sept. 28. They will be displaying their new Engine 82 and commissioning it that day. Illinois State Marshal Larry Matkaitis will be making a “special” presentation that day at 11:00am. Food & drinks will be served and there will be special activities for the kids. This event will be from 11:00am to 2:00 pm.

The Kankakee Township Fire Protection District has taken delivery of a 2013 Spartan Metrostar / US Tanker Engine.

This next installment (our 9th) in our series highlighting The Color of Fire Trucks, comes again from Bill Friedrich and looks at MABAS Division 7. This MABAS division covers Kankakee County and part of Iroquois County.

The City of Kankakee had two units on CF Mack chassis that were white over lime-green. One was this 1983 Mack CF600 with a 100′ Pirsch aerial ladder, a 1,250-GPM pump and 200 gallons of water. This was Ladder 6. Bill Friedrich archives
