Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD firefighters were dispatched to the BP station at Milwaukee Avenue and Route 22 Tuesday afternoon (6/25/19) for a reported car fire. Police officers arriving first notified the fire district that it was a truck on fire that was fully involved but away from the gas pumps. The Battalion 51 arrived and added Squad 51 to the response which originally was for Engine 53 only. The small box truck was filled with kitchen cabinets. The fire which was in the engine area and truck cab was impinging on the rear cargo section when firefighters extinguished the flames. An additional engine was called to assist with the overhaul.

Here are some images from a three-car crash on Milwaukee Avenue at Woodlands Parkway 6/6/19 in Vernon Hills. There were multiple occupants between the three cars but all signed releases at the scene. The accident was apparently caused when one driver pulled to the curb southbound as a Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD ambulance was heading north to a hospital with a patient from an unrelated incident. One car failed to stop and hit the first, and then a third car plowed into the second one.
The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD was dispatched for a reported house fire at 4:26AM Thursday morning (1/3/19) on North Apple Hill Lane in Prairie View. Responding units from nearby Station 51 saw a glow in the sky and the response was upgraded to a working fire. Arriving companies found a two-story house that was fully engulfed by fire. The house was believed to be vacant and undergoing some renovation. The ladder pipe from Truck 53 went into service right away along with three hand lines as the entire operation was defensive.
Lincolnshire-Riverwoods and Grayslake trucks were at the scene along with two engines from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, one each from Lake Forest and Countryside, Buffalo Grove Quint 27, squads from Deerfield-Bannockburn and Libertyville, a Long Grove ambulance, and chief officers from Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Countryside, Libertyville, Long Grove, and Deerfield-Bannockburn.

The 24th Battalion had a small fire Thursday afternoon (6/23) at 11006 S. Green Bay Road. Although I knew the fire was going to be out long before I could get there, I continued in to get some images of a few rigs that don’t go to work too often.
This from Steve Redick:
This fire was about 0400 hours this am, near the intersection of Harrison & Clinton in Oak Park. The original fire building, apparantly a 2-1/2 story frame was nothing but sticks when I arrived … totally consumed. The fire had a good hold in exposure 4 and pretty much burned the roof off of that, and was well into exposure 2 as well. The Oak Park tower operated as well as a deck gun and several hand lines. Berwyn set up their aerial pipe at the far end of the block, but to my surprise was able to hit the fire pretty well from that vantage point. Shot a lot of rigs, the newest being Broadview Engine 7. An interesting job to see in an area I don’t get to much.

This from Drew Gresik:
Hey guys,I was in the area on Saturday 9/21 when Tri-State got toned out for a house fire in the 7100 block of Beechnut Lane in Darien. Got on scene shortly after the Full Still companies arrived on scene. Tower 529 laddered the roof and Engine 541 hit a hydrant. Small fire, not much to see except rig shots, but thought it would be interesting to send in based on the recent developments concerning the District. Thanks again.Drew Gresik
