Prospect Heights firefighters were called to 409 Etowah Avenue Thursday night (6/1/17) at 9PM for a house fire. First arriving units had fire showing from the B-Side of the house and made a quick hit from the exterior. The area is without hydrants and the first-due tanker was out of service. As Prospect Heights Engine 39 laid out 1,500′ of 5″ hose to a nearby school, Long Grove Tanker 55 supplied water to Prospect Heights Engine 9 in front of the house. The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire bringing companies from Arlington Heights, Mt. Prospect, Wheeling, Elk Grove Township, Northbrook, and the Palatine Rural FPD.

Here are some shots of the Full Still Wednesday night in at 6615 W. Cermak Road in Berwyn. The initial fire call came in at approximately 19:00 Hours, and command quickly requested a Full Still. I arrived on scene just as overhaul was in progress. North Riverside Truck 806 and Forest Park Engine 401 were due to the scene along with Berwyn Chief 900, Quint 901, Engine 902, Engine 903, Truck 904, Ambulance 905, Chief 908, Chief 909, and Chief 916 with Stickney Engine 1203 due for the Change of Quarters.

Lake and Park, a short block from the firehouse. I understand there was a fatality in this fire. Nothing to see when I arrived but got some nice rig shots. Fire was in the basement and well contained in short order.

Took this job in last night. (Bay Colony sub division, unincorporated Des Plaines within the North Main FPD) It came in as a fire alarm and companies arrived to fire showing on the top floor. They reported extension into the attic but everything was long over by the time I arrived. Niles Engine 2 is a newly in service apparatus.

A neighbor called the Northbrook Fire Department this afternoon (10/4/16) shortly before 2PM reporting smoke coming from the house at 1801 Oak Avenue. The first Northbrook unit had smoke showing and the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire. Companies made a good stop on an apparent basement fire that had burned through a section of the flooring above.
Northfield Truck 29, Glenview Truck 14, Wheeling Engine 23, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Ambulance 52 were at the scene along with Northbrook Engines 10 &11, Truck 12, Ambulances 10 & 11, Battalion 11, and all three chief officers.

Made it to a job in Maywood on Wednesday (8/17/16). Wound up as a 3rd alarm, mainly for manpower and relief. Large apparently vacant frame dwelling. It looked like they had quite a bit of outside fire and it may have communicated to a small 1 story commercial building in sector 2. Lots of busy truck guys for a while when I first arrived. Here are a few shots from this morning’s fire at 304 S 5th Ave. in Maywood. They had heavy fire upon arrival in the rear of this large frame house, by the time I got there companies were having a lot of difficulty chasing the fire in the void spaces up on the second floor and in the attic.
