This from Eric Haak:
The East Chicago Fire Department in Northwest Indiana responded to this structure fire at 1500 hrs on Monday (8/25) afternoon. The fire building was located at 14741 South Tod Avenue and appeared to be a vacant apartments over bar or restaurant. The building was about 100 feet deep and the fire eventually consumed most of the frame attic space. Images in this gallery are taken nearly 3 hours into the incident.
I would also like to take this opportunity to formally launch my new web site. It is still a work in progress and I have a lot to add, but I am satisfied enough at this time to put it out there. Images from this fire and many other incidents can be seen at http://wcfs.smugmug.com/. Hope you enjoy.

This from Karl Klotz:
Last year, Grant Park FPD (MABAS Division 7) started running this former Beecher FPD 1996 Pierce Saber 1250/750 (Engine 404).Engine Co. 110 replaces the 1982 Ford C8000/E-ONE 1000/1000.
Larry Shapiro stopped by the Linclonshire-Riverwoods FPD to get photos of the new unit for Engine 52 which was scheduled to be put into service on Friday (8-2-13).

The first of Franklin Park’s new engines is in service. I caught Engine 1 with their new rig at a working fire on 2-14-13. I arrived well after the fire was out, but here is a picture of their new engine 1 that is in Full Service.

The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD is expecting delivery of their new Pierce 105′ quint next week. It will be black over red with a black ladder similar to the new truck in Homewood.
In addition, the first of the existing Lincolnshire-Riverwoods units to have the white roof repainted black is Engine 51 which recently came back from the paint shop. Engine 52 is due to go out for bodywork and a new black roof shortly.
