The fire building was located at 14741 South Tod Avenue and appeared to be a vacant apartments over bar or restaurant. The building was about 100 feet deep and the fire eventually consumed most of the frame attic space. Images in this gallery are taken nearly 3 hours into the incident.

I would also like to take this opportunity to formally launch my new web site. It is still a work in progress and I have a lot to add, but I am satisfied enough at this time to put it out there. Images from this fire and many other incidents can be seen at http://wcfs.smugmug.com/. Hope you enjoy.

They’re definitely not common, but pretty cool. I’ve never seen one in action myself, probably quite the attention-getter.

I wasn’t aware of any Chicago-area department with a roto-ray. Fun to see!
