East Chicago Working Fire, 8-25-14

This from Eric Haak:

The East Chicago Fire Department in Northwest Indiana responded to this structure fire at 1500 hrs on Monday (8/25) afternoon.  The fire building was located at 14741 South Tod Avenue and appeared to be a vacant apartments over bar or restaurant.  The building was about 100 feet deep and the fire eventually consumed most of the frame attic space.  Images in this gallery are taken nearly 3 hours into the incident.

I would also like to take this opportunity to formally launch my new web site.  It is still a work in progress and I have a lot to add, but I am satisfied enough at this time to put it out there.  Images from this fire and many other incidents can be seen at http://wcfs.smugmug.com/.  Hope you enjoy.

Rolling Meadows updates

These Rolling Meadows updates are from Lance J. Neuses:

The 1998 American LaFrance has been moved to Sta. 16 and placed into reserve status as E16R.

The 2006 American LaFrance has been placed at Sta. 15 and has new decals and sits as E15 now. (This engine is currently being repainted, we have been told it will not be black over red, but surprises are welcome)

Engine 615 has been sold to the Cambria Fire Dept. in Wisconsin 8/2/2012.

The 2004 American LaFrance has been placed into front line service as E16 at Sta. 16. (This engine is slated to be repainted as soon as E15 comes back)

Attached also is an unofficial station patch for Sta. 15.  Shirts are in the works.

Oh forgot to mention the 2006 LaFrance has only 500 gal. not 750. That’s why it went to Sta. 15. The 2004 does have 750 and helps cover an area for Palatine Rural that has no hydrants, so it makes sense.

*** webmaster note: the changes have been made

Antioch Fire is added to the site

The Antioch Fire Department and First Fire District is a volunteer department at the northern edge of Illinois in Lake County Quad 2. They have three stations with many pieces of apparatus and a new engine expected in January. Once an all Pirsch department, they still have two Pirsch units on the roster, one of which will be put up for auction when the new engine arrives. Each station houses a brush rig and an engine or tanker with at least 2,000 gallons of water.

Today the apparatus consists of US Tanker, Alexis, Pierce, and 3D. Station 1 houses the Quad 2 rehab unit, the Quad 2 air boat, and a new Quad 2 resource dubbed the Fast Attack Response Truck.
