The new engine will replace engine 6. Both these apparatus are due for delivery in November. This, in fact, was from the pre-construction meeting for both engine 6 and truck 14. Another is also on order, placed November 2022. That has a 30 month lead time, from Nov ’22.

I believe these 2 units were ordered in December of 2021. There was a post on here in March of 2022. This was most likely the pre construction meeting. These units have been on order for 15 plus months. The delivery times were not quite what they are now. I believe you’re seeing these extended delivery times for multiple reasons. The department’s are planning ahead due to the long lead times. If you have a unit due for replacement 4 years from now, you should probably start the process now. There are still supply issues. There is another round of EPA regulations coming (I believe next year). I am not quite sure how a manufacturer sets a price for something that won’t be produced for 36-40 months?

We are seeing record prices on trucks and sales are through the roof! Why is the demand for new apparatus so high?

Pierce’s current delivery time is 40 months.

Chuck – That sounds optimistic. I’m being told Pierce back log is so massive that it could be 4 years before some departments see their trucks.

Will the new truck be a Quint and have a pump and a tank or just be a regular truck company? Which engine will the new engine replace? Are they still thinking it will be two years before they take delivery of both rigs?
