  I have a feeling you’re going to make this political somehow (due to Oak Lawn selling their E-One truck and buying a Quint) but here’s my shot:

  I really doubt that any vertical ventilation would have helped….such a large “dirty” fire is putting out so many BTUs (specifically here because of the MASSIVE amount of poly-carbon fabrics used in wedding dresses….and the THOUSANDS of dresses in the shop) that additional ventilation or not, you would have needed a LOT of BIG lines inside to make a knock on the fire. And without having lines in place to get a hit on the fire, ventilation does (essentially) nothing but adds oxygen to the fire.

  The first due truck company was probably Evergreen Park’s 44, which is located two and one half miles from the fire. Did
  this play a role in the rapid fire spread? The photos and videos only show horizontal ventilation. Was there an attempt at vertical ventilation?
