From theSchiller Park Firefighters Local 5230 Facebook page:
8/10/2020 Franklin Park 3rd alarm industrial building fire. #local5230 members went mutual aid to Franklin Park for the industrial building on fire. Members from Truck 5 went interior with a 2 1/2 handline, set Schiller Park Truck 5 ladder up and went to the roof with members from Franklin Park. While on the roof, both companies made a few trench cuts allowing members to hit the fire with a hand-line to put out all the hot spots. SPFD was on scene for about three hours, all while a significant wind and rain storm came through the area. All remaining Schiller Park members on duty stayed back and responded to multiple storm-related calls of wires, and trees down, along with other EMS calls. Thank you to Tim Olk for the pictures!
Something we take very seriously is when we get back to the station, and we make sure all of our tools are cleaned, inspected, and ready for the next call. Every member will also be required to wash all their gear; this is mandatory to help prevent cancer.
