Buffalo Grove firefighters were called to the Dengeos Restaurant at 195 W. Dundee Road Sunday night (1/5/20) for a reported fire. Police officers reported smoke outside the building traveling across the road. Companies had flames visible through the trim on the C-D corner of the building with smoke inside. The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for additional units. Firefighters vented the roof and tore away at the siding to find heavy charring along the corner of the building.
Units at the scene included Buffalo Grove Quint 25, Engine 26, Engine 27, Ambulance 25, Ambulance 26, Battalion 4, Car 208, and the deputy chief. Out of town companies included Arlington Heights Engine 4, Ambulance 4, and Battalion 1; Long Grove Squad 55 and Battalion 55; Palatine Engine 82 and Ambulance 82; Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD Squad 51, Prospect Heights Engine 39, and ambulances from Lake Forest and the Nunda Rural FPD.

The new E-One tower ladder is due sometime around June. It should be on the line and now and we should start to see some pictures pop up. If I get any, I’ll be sure to share them with the group.
There are currently no plans to build and occupy a Station 28. There are facilities being built at the training site for a new permanent classroom that would allow for temporary quarters in District 28 in the event of a railroad crossing closure or some other need.

Buffalo Grove is divided into four grids; 25, 26, 27, and 28. Those are then divided into sectors. In grids 25, 26, and 27 the corresponding numbered fire station is first-due however there is no Station 28. I wonder if Buffalo Grove has plans to build a Station 28?

Tyler is correct. Q25 is running in place of TWR25 because it is out of service for maintenance. Q25 is using Q27’s vehicle. Station 27 is running E27 in place of Q27.
Typically 25 would be using the spare quint (2003 KME), but that is also out of service for repairs so it necessitated shuffling some vehicles.

Evan Rude,
Buffalo Grove does have a Engine 27, and Quint 25. Quint 25 replaces Tower 25 when the tower is out of service, and Engine 27 replaces Quint 27 when they are out of service. My guess is Quint 27 is being used by 25 right now since the tower is OOS.

I don’t think Buffalo Grove has an engine 27 or quint 25 unless they are cross staffed by tower 25 for quint 25 and quint 27 for engine 27
