Some day Lake County will catch up to the rest of the Chicago area and properly man their rigs……

Bill that’s exactly how it works. The outlying stations go with all 3. I think there is thought that since they mainly transport to condell they are almost always available and if at condell and a fire call comes in they could go to station 2 and pick up a fire apparatus. Plus they use mutual aid.

So Mike if Stations 2 or 3 get an ambulance run do all three jump on the ambulance as it really wouldn’t make sense to let the remaining fire company run with only one person? Two man companies are ridiculous enough but to have only on an engine or a quint is worse then ridiculous. If that is the case then I would assume Ambulance 461 at station 1 would run with two as that way there would be two left at Station 1 (not including the battalion chief) to be able to respond with the engine or the tower ladder.

Libertyville is staffed as such. Station 1 is a battalion chief, 1 lieutenant and 3 firefighters. Station 2 & 3 are 1 lieutenant and 2 firefighters. Station 1 sometimes rides 2/2 on separate pieces. If it’s a multi station response they jump to the apparatus that’s due and the other pieces are out of service.
Just like most towns Libertyville isn’t staffed well.

Thanks for the updated information Nick. So does Tower Ladder 461 now follow Engine 462 on structure fires or does the Quint 463 still provide the truck service? How does Libertyville respond to structure fires in town? I know that Station 1 normally runs with more men than stations 2 and 3 but does Station 1 have enough on duty to run the tower ladder as a separate company from Engine 461 or is the tower as a jump company?

The quint that’s listed on here at station 2 is now at station 3 along with their new tanker. The engine that was at station 3 moved to station 2. The squad at station 2 is mainly used for SRT calls and goes out of town quite a bit. For entrapment’s their engine’s have extrication and the quint has tools also.

So is the new unit going to Engine 461 at Station 1? Is the current Engine 461 going to Station 2 as a hand me down to become Engine 462? It appears that Quint 462 at Station 2 is usually the first out and since they only have 3 people at Station, Engine 462 would either be a reserve apparatus or a jump company. What does Libertyville do when station 2 gets an EMS run? Does the 3-person Quint crew jump on the ambulance and take the quint out of service? Better yet what does Libertyville do when station 2 gets a vehicle accident with people trapped? Do they send the ambulance, the quint, or the squad?

Its still a rescue engine or pumper squad call it what you will, just doesnt have an enclosed side mount pump panel.

I think it was a cost issue with not enclosing pump panels plus this is a top mount pump now. Between the cab and coffin boxes this looks like it has a lot of storage space for them though.

I’m shocked that they are getting rid of the squad bodies

Another prime example of a no nonsense but sharp looking rig.
