This from Andy Russell:
I got a chance to grab a few pictures of the new BGFD ambulance that was delivered last week. It’s a 2015 Horton on a Freightliner chassis sold by Foster Coach Sales. It’s currently being stocked and having some final touches taken care of plus training. It is slated to go in service as A25 by the end of the year.

Any idea about replacing the reserve E-one Engine and Tower?

Shorter wheel base, better turning radius, easier maintenance, better life span, are a few of the reasons we trended away from the F series. We had also had a few issues with the one F series chassis that we have. If they were still making the E series with the diesel we probably never would have changed.
Ambulance 225 (A28) was disposed of last year due to a mechanical failure. We had been operating a loaner ambulance from Foster Coach as the reserve until this one arrived.
A second identical ambulance from Horton is already on order and expected early in the 2nd quarter next year.

The F series ride great, infinetly better than the internationals and freights. One of the main reasons depts are getting away from them.

You cannot get an E series with a Diesel engine and the F series don’t ride very well.

Which of the older ambulances will be leaving when the current A25 goes into reserve?

Interesting, especially with so many depts trending away from International and Freightliner in favor of Ford F series. Anyone know why, after all these years of E series in BG?
