Drew Smith passed along this message from Matthew Gray:
With the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 right around the corner … it is a pretty cool thing that a piece of history from that day is here in Prospect Heights. The original rig of FDNY Res4cue is at Fries Automotive. Little history on that day Res4cue responded with 8 members and returned with none. So of course Fries would love anyone to come by and take a look. It is in rough shape but still a piece of fire history none the less.

Hello, I was just worndering how much did it cost at the auction to buy this rig? I saw the auctions web site and there were 3 rescues up for auction, do you have any info about these rigs and where did they go to?

The rescue currently located at Fries Auto is FDNY Rescue 4 from Queens. The rig was recently purchased and brought to Chicago for refurb by local firefighter and owner of the FireZone. The rescue will be a part of a new charity organization, the Remembrance Rescue Project (RRP). The RRP is designed to help children of fallen firefighters, while educating people to the risks and responsibilities associated with firefighting. The project is currently looking for volunteers and assistance with getting the truck ready for tour and programs.
