Joliet house fire 6-28-11

Jim Skrabel took in a fire this morning in Joliet at 1701 Sierra Highland Court. His description of the event:

A two-story house with heavy fire on the side which damaged the house next door. Engine 9, the first due engine, made a good hit and knocked it down by the time I got there. Two 1 3/4″ lines were stretched off of Engine 9. Truck 9 had the jacks set if they needed the stick to the roof. Units on-scene included Engines 9,8,10, Truck 9, B/C 2, and ambulances 8,9,10.

Box alarm in Troy 6-27-11

Jim Skrabel took in a Box Alarm this morning in Troy and submitted several images and this description:

The fire was at Auto-Masters, 724 Cottage, Shorewood, Illinois. The building was a one-story, 25×40 auto shop with a two-story house attached on the rear. Companies encountered heavy fire and smoke on arrival and used (3) 2 1/2″ lines and (1) 1 3/4″ line. It was a very quick knock down by Troy crews.

Darien-Woodridge moves to DuComm

Darien-Woodridge Lt. Jim Skrabel notified us that as of 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 4th, dispatch for their fire department moved to DuComm South. They are the 600-series apparatus sharing the frequency with Lisle-Woodridge and Warrenville. The frequency is 151.385.

Since 1995, Darien-Woodridge had been dispatched from a shared communication center with Pleasantview out of Pleasantview Station 1.

Lockport 2-11 11/1/10

The Lockport Township Fire Protection District requested a 2nd Alarm MABAS Box today for a structure fire at a shopping center on Theodore street near Plainfield Road. The fire was in the end unit of a center that is undergoing remodeling. An Eagle Super Market was previously located in this center.

Darien-Woodridge FPD Lt. Jim Skrabel was nearby and submitted a few photos from the scene.
