Working fire in Buffalo Grove, 9-6-14

This from Larry Shapiro:

Buffalo Grove firefighters were called to 1062 Harvard Lane in the early morning hours of September 6th for smoke in the house. The area had been hit hard earlier in the day by a fast moving storm that knocked out power to many homes including this one. Thick black smoke met the first arriving companies who quickly found a small fire in the basement, but not before the entire house was charged with smoke. Here are a few images and a short video from the scene.

Buffalo Grove house fire 8-31-11

Neighbors called the Buffalo Grove Fire Department this afternoon reporting smoke from a house at 710 Farrington Drive. Police arrived and confirmed smoke from the house. The response was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire before the fire units arrived. Engine 26 was not far away on their way back from a fire alarm and arrived within minutes. They entered with a line and found the kitchen fully involved with fire. Heavy fire was venting out of the kitchen windows in the rear.

The fire was extinguished with one line and contained to the kitchen although thick smoke filled the entire house and attic. The homeowner was not home but two dogs were in the house. One survived and the other died. Buffalo Grove was assisted by Long Grove, Wheeling, Palatine, Arligton Heights, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods.
