The Long Grove Fire Protection District was sent to the Enzo & Lucia Restaurant at 343 Old McHenry Road this morning for a fire that began on the stove and traveled to the attic. The building, which is located half a block from the fire station, had heavy smoke venting through the roof vents and stove exhaust. The alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for the working fire to bring additional resources to the scene including several water tankers due to the limited water supply.
Companies made an aggressive interior attack and were able to contain the fire before it could burn through any exterior surface. Buffalo Grove Tower Ladder 25 went to the roof to ventilate while interior companies from Long Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, and Palatine attacked the fire. A tanker (tender) from the Countryside FPD supported the Long Grove engine and squad until a portable tank was dropped. Prospect Heights Tanker 9 filled the tank which provided a sufficient water supply for companies to extinguish the fire.
Additional companies at the scene included an engine from Lake Zurich, a squad from Deerfield, ambulances from Wheeling and Highwood, a truck from Libertyville, and tankers from Palatine Rural, Wauconda, Grayslake, and Round Lake.
Larry Shapiro and Tim Olk were at the scene. Some images and a video from Larry are in this post.
