This from Steve Redick:
Made it to this job at Lake & Homan yesterday … I arrived pretty early in the job (ahead of the squad). 1-story row of what looked like mostly vacant commercial occupancies, but the motocycle club looks like it may have been in use. From my vantage point it looked like the fire was in the cockloft over more than one occupancy. Lots of venting on the roof, and some forcible entry in the rear. Note the sign on the door of the motorcycle joint. Also shot a little video too … this was a done deal in very short order.Steve

A passerby called 9-1-1 this morning in Wheeling reporting heavy smoke coming from a house in the area of Strong Avenue and Wolf Roads. When companies responded, they reported a large header which was visible from Station 42 on Dundee Road. The first arriving unit reported fire in an attached garage of a single-family home and requested the alarm be upgraded to a Code 4 working fire.
Residents were out of the house and firefighters attacked the fire with two 2-1/2 inch lines knocking down the majority of the fire in minutes. Two more lines were used as a company went into the house and the fourth went to another side.
The fire was stopped before it was able to get into the house, though a significant amount of smoke permeated the living quarters.
Northbrook Engine 10, Buffalo Grove Tower 25, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Ambulance 52 responded for mutual aid.
Larry Shapiro arrived within a minute of the first lines going into operation and still missed the heavy fire and smoke. He has submitted several images and will have more posted on his site.

Friday morning around 7:30AM, the Northbrook Fire Department received calls reporting heavy smoke coming from a vacant house at 1017 Shermer Road. First arriving companies found smoke throughout the ranch house coming from a basement fire. The alarm was elevated to a Code 4 for the working fire, and brought mutual aid from Glencoe and Northfield to assist.
After the fire was extinguished, an investigator’s box alarm was requested bringing fire investigators from neighboring Division 3 departments to assist Northbrook in determining a cause.
Tim Olk arrived with the first companies and submitted a few images of the scene.
Tim has a gallery with more images HERE.

Gordon J. Nord, Jr. was in Bedford Park yesterday when the neighboring Burbank Fire Department received a call reporting a house fire. Companies arrived on the scene and found heavy fire on the second floor of the single-family house. Firefighters made an interior attack and had to back out for a short time while the roof was ventilated. Then they were able to hit the fire again.
Bedford Park, Bridgeview, and Oak Lawn companies assisted Burbank.
