Thought you may want a few photos of the fire in Plainfield on Rolf road. The address was 23648 Rolf Road. One house totally destroyed and there was heavy damage to another.

The Herald News Sun has an article that states:

Fire destroyed one house and damaged another Wednesday night in the 23600 block of Rolf Road.

No one was injured in the fire, which Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said was reported at 5:41 p.m.

“Crews arrived to find the front of the two-story house on fire, the car on the driveway had started on fire and there were flames on the wall of the house next door from the heavy winds,” Stratton said.

5-Alarm ++ fire in Peru (IL) – update

Tim Olk took a drive on Monday to visit the fire scene in Peru, IL. When he went down there, they were over 30 hours into the fire and had requested a 4th Alarm for tankers to the scene. Tim found fires still burning and producing large amounts of smoke throughout many areas of the complex. He took a large amount of photos during the time he was on-scene which will be online in the coming hours. Here are a few samples of what he found in Peru. Barrington Box Alarm 11-23-11

The Barrington Fire Department received a call around 8PM this evening reporting a fire at 340 Weatherstone Road. The call came from a neighbor who saw fire outside the garage. First arriving companies were met by heavy fire at the three-car garage and traveling up through the roof encroaching on the main portion of the house. Shortly thereafter a Box Alarm was requested which brought tankers to this non-hydranted subdivision near Lake-Cook and Ela Roads. Fire was in the garage attic and portions of the second floor attic as well before firefighters were able to stop it from spreading further. Both vehicles in the garage were virtually undamaged. The first Barrington engine was in the driveway and was fed by the second engine in front of the house. A porta-tank was dropped by this engine and the tankers kept the water supply consistent.

Larry Shapiro went to the scene and arrived after the fire had been knocked down. He submitted several images from the scene and has a small gallery with additional images HERE.

Tiskilwa train derailment

Tim Olk drove to Tiskilwa, IL (124 miles south west of Chicago) on Friday to document the partial derailment of a freight train overnight which was carrying ethanol for corn processor Archer Daniels Midland Co.

From the Chicago Tribune:

A freight train loaded with ethanol crashed and exploded near the village’s northeast side early Friday. Witnesses say the resulting explosions shook them awake before dawn and sent bright orange flames and plumes of smoke into the sky.

The Associated Press reported that:

Each tanker cars generally carries about 29,000 gallons of ethanol, experts said. Twenty-six cars on the 131-car train derailed, including seven to nine loaded with ethanol, according to Mick Burkart, chief operating officer of Iowa Interstate Railroad. The fire prevented officials from immediately getting close enough to the train to determine what caused the accident, Burkart said.
