The Englewood Fire Alarm Office gave the 21st Battalion a working fire at 9845 s Hoyne Ave while companies were still responding. Engine 121 and Truck 40 arrived on scene and confirmed the working fire in a 1-1/2 story, 20×50 Chicago Bungalow and also declaring it vacant. Engine 121 pulled 2 lines, Truck 40 put their aerial to the roof and preformed vertical ventilation. Squad 5 was held before arrival. The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries.
Side note-after 4-6-8’s arrival they called for 4-6-19 the State Fire Marshal’s Office Canine Unit.

CFD responded to a Still at 7934 s Hoyne Ave, Upon arrival companies found a 50×150 single story commercial building with heavy fire showing. The fire was quickly boxed and later a 2-11 was given with a level 1 hazmat for precautionary reasons. There were multiple explosions with a roof collapse. At the fire’s height there were 6 Master streams in operation (2 TLs/2 Deck guns/1 Snorkel/1 Blitz).
