Excerpts from cbsnewschicago.com:
An extra-alarm fire ripped through a parking garage in the Illinois Medical District on the city’s Near West Side Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out in a truss-roof parking garage for the Garibaldi Square on the Park townhouse complex at 711 S. Ashland Ave., between Flournoy and Polk streets. One car caught fire, and the blaze spread to nearly 30 other cars.
The roof of the garage collapsed onto the vehicles, potentially causing more cars to catch fire. A 2-11 alarm was raised for extra equipment and manpower. Just under 100 fire personnel were brought in to battle the blaze.
The alarm was struck out and the fire was under control by 4:37 p.m., and many cars lay in burned out ruins.

Excerpts from nbcchicago.com:
According to the Illinois State Police, troopers responded to a hit-and-run crash in the westbound lanes near California Avenue at approximately 4:54 a.m. Sunday. While on scene approximately 45 minutes after the crash, an Infiniti sedan slammed into an ISP squad car and a Chicago fire truck. Just moments after that collision, another sedan struck a tow truck that had responded to the scene.
In all, six individuals, including a Chicago firefighter, were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crashes.
The collisions left all westbound lanes of the highway closed for just over an hour for clean-up and investigation.
The driver of the Infiniti, identified as Eddie J. Johnson-Carter, 29, of Chicago, was cited for driving under the influence, failure to yield to a stationery emergency vehicle, and other traffic violations.
