Took in a quick job the other night basically right across the street from Engine 11’s house. I arrived pretty promptly but there wasn’t much to see by the time I found what side of the building complex the fire was on. A handline was taken up Truck 9’s aerial but I believe an interior line had already pretty much contained the fire. I saw 1 victim being treated.Steve

This from Steve Redick:
Friday (5/18/18) in the 6600 block of N Olmsted. Response here was a bit compromised as they had an alley garage at the same time causing a lengthy delay in the arrival of the RIT truck company. Fire had a good hold in the concealed spaces and knee wall areas necessitating considerable truck work. Late in the incident some members were caught in a bad spot on the roof when fire conditions changed rapidly, cutting off access to the aerial. Fortunately the free venting fire was knocked down quickly with inside handlines alleviating the situation.Truck 9 was able to setup the aerial despite some tough conditions, a narrow street, tree branches, and wires all hindering the effort. One of the last images shows the grateful victims of a rescue. All images all can be seen here.Steve

Took in another job in the fire prone 11th battalion this am at 8230 W. Berwyn Avenue. Pretty cut and dried but it appeared they hit two frozen hydrants (not sure … judging by my obervations alone). This job was 1/2 block from a good working fire on the same street about two weeks ago. Heavy snow yesterday made travel and parking on the side streets difficult and hydrants were pretty much buried in snow as well. I was able to shoot a little use of the stripping ladder … not something you can usually see from the street. All the images and a quick video can be seen here:Steve

9737 Farragut. This is I believe technically Chicago, but Rosemont arrived initially. Seemed to be an auto fire inside a repair business. Chicago units were initially returned but then responded back to the scene.

7219 W Clarence today. An auto fire that communicated to a rear coachhouse. This is the far northwest portion of the city in an area that is very quiet. It was interesting to see these companies working and I got some nice shots of members opening the roof. Notice 79 had a spare and were using the new magnetic signs on the door. a short video will also be posted on my website from this job.Steve

This from Steve Redick:
The string of 11th battalion workers continues. This one was at Resurrection Hospital, a major hospital complex about a block from my house. Came in as a “cold box” and companies reported a fire in the chapel area on the 2nd floor. The alarm eventually rose to a 3-11 and EMS plan 1 with a special call for the MVU from O’Hare Field. This brought the brand new Engine 9 as well. Not much to see from the outside but it sounded like they had quite a bit of hidden fire that was difficult to expose, as well as difficulties ventilating the fire area. It also sounded like they relocated numerous patients within the building. A moderate amount of light smoke was visible at the roofline for a bit. A very unusual incident to say the least, and I’m sure there were issues and concerns that I could not see from the outside.Steve
