20th Annual Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show (more)

Took this in on Saturday. Mainly police cars but a few rigs, some new to the show. The organizers put a lot of work into setting this up each year but the current venue in downtown Oswego makes quality vehicle photos pretty much impossible to get due to some very tight space limitations … that being said I managed to get a few mediocre shots. all are posted here

20th Annual Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show

This Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show is a free, family event that honors our public safety providers and the vehicles used to get them to the scene throughout history! Antique and in-service police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, emergency management, and military vehicles will be in motion and on display at three upcoming events. Come on out and show your support for emergency services and the vehicles that get the job done!

QUIET ZONE: For those wanting a siren-free experience, the last section of the route along Prairie Point Community Park at 4120 Plainfield Rd. in Oswego will be maintained as a quiet zone.
The Emergency Vehicle Procession kicks off in North Aurora from at 6:30 P.M. sharp from 150 S. Lincolnway (Route 31) and arrives at 7:30 P.M. at Oswego Fire Station #1, 3511 Woolley Rd, Oswego for a private reception/dinner for emergency vehicle owners/operators.

The 20th Annual Chicagoland Emergency Vehicle Show returns to it’s new location along Main Street in downtown Oswego.
Emergency Vehicle Display and Muster – Public Safety Flea Market – Fire Engine Rides – Police and Fire Demonstrations including a simulated high-risk entry SWAT demonstration by the Aurora Police Special Response Team at 11:00 A.M. in front of the Oswego Public Library, 32 W. Jefferson St. Oswego.

Emergency Vehicle Caravan to Naperville’s National Night Out Emergency Vehicle Show
The Emergency Vehicle Caravan kicks off in Oswego at 9:30 A.M. sharp from the AmericInn Lodge & Suites 1050 Douglas Rd. and arrives in downtown Naperville at 10:00 A.M. for static display on Jackson St between Eagle St. and Main St. A limited number of emergency vehicles will be on display there until 2:00 P.M.

Had a great day Saturday attending the annual Fire Buffs of Illinois/ 5-11 Club muster. Attendance seemed down this year and the amount of rigs seemed very low compared to previous years but nonetheless it was a great and fun day. Here is a sampling of some of the “hardware” I was able to see. Great to see the Skokie/Engine 87 Club Mack again this year after a lengthy absence. All the images and video can be seen on my site

Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District news

Excerpts from the DailyHerald.com:

Barrington Countryside Fire Protection District will host an antique fire truck show Saturday, May 20. It will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1 at 22222 North Pepper Road in Lake Barrington. The free, all-ages event will feature about a dozen antique fire trucks from various eras. Guests will get to mingle with firefighters, learn more about emergency services and vote for their favorite vehicles in the “People’s Choice” award category. There will be free hot dogs and refreshments, and activities. For more information, contact the fire protection district at (224) 848-4800 or visit bcfpd.org.
