Tyler Tobolt, i work for the City of Crystal Lake as a fireman, and i’m currently working on our website . I was wondering if i had your permission to use some of your photographs that you have taken throughout the years? If you can get back to me at your earliest convenience i would appreciate it.

Ruth call or stop by the firehouse and I’m sure they will do what they can to help you guys. As long as they’re not on a run I’m sure they’ll make it happen.

For the Boy Scout Fire Safety Badge, it requires a scout to visit a fire station and identify the types of trucks they have. Do you know if any of the stations in Crystal Lake have open houses scheduled soon? Or are there any groups touring soon that my son can tour with? Thanks.

Lakewood FD covers west of Route 176 , I would say about 15 Guys working a day. Squad 359 is not manned and does not run calls it responds with the fire investigators after fires i dont know why they dont use it on calls.

In regards to Rt 176, Crystal Lake goes to a subdivision just past Haligus/Mt. Thabor Rd. Rt 47 & 176 (both instersections is the Lakewood FD (which is technically the Woodstock FPD as they provide the manning for Lakewood, but Lakewood wanted it’s own identity). Lakewood will send an Engine & Woodstock an Ambulance & Shift commander.
RE: Manning Crystal Lake, it’s been a real long time since they’ve had 20 guys on duty. There may be 20 assigned per shift, but they usually have 12 to 15 on duty max. The Squad is a small “Emergency” type Squad and run either as jump or by the callbacks.

So how many men normally are part of Station 1’s Jump “crew” 2 or 3?
So is this correct there are 2 members who are assigned to Ambulance 351, 3 members assigned to Engine 341 and there is Battalion 330 who drives himself.
Then there is the jump crew who will man the Tower if it is a structure on fire or will man the tanker if there is a tanker box requested or the brush unit if requested or if there is a second Ambulance run in the district then they will man Ambulance 352?
Is Squad 359 dispatched on “extrications” or is that handled by the Engines and or the Tower?
Who handles the runs that are just west of Crystal Lake on Highway 176 Is that Crystal Lake who will respond in the rural area? I know that Union Illinois has a small fire department but they are about 13 miles west of Crystal Lake.
Does Crystal Lake respond first due as far west as Highway 47 or is that in another fire department’s jurisdiction?

Exactly what JC Said. Ambulance 352 (At St 1) is available as the 2nd ambulance to a call’s in district 1 area if Ambulance 351 is on a call. If there is a structure fire or mutual aid request that would send Tower 381, Tender 371, Brush 361, Ambulance 355 they would put Ambulance 352 OOS and respond with another rig.

Bill to clarify Tylers last post Station 1 has 3 crews plus the Battalion. Ambulance 351 and Engine 341 have dedicated crews, while the third crew staffs Ambulance 352, Truck 381, Tender 371, Brush 361 or Ambulance 355 (Bariatric Rig) as necessary.

Station 1 : Manned Rigs: Battalion 330, Ambulance 351, Engine 341 (Tower 381, Tender 371, Ambulance 352, Ambulance 355 all Jump crew)
Station 3 : Engine 343, Ambulance 353
Station 4: Engine 344, Ambulance 354

Thanks ,Tyler. The station is certainly hidden away. Do they run the Tower Ladder at station 1 as a Jump company or do they normally have enough men on duty to man both the Engine and the Truck? When I say enough men for the Truck I mean 3 men on the Engine and 2 on the Truck. I had read that they try to have a minimum of 15 men on duty with a maximum of about 20. So they run with 5 men per station or do they generally run with more men at station 1 as they are the largest station with the most apparatus?
How do they operated manpower wise and apparatus wise these days?

Tyler where exactly is fire station number 3 in Crystal Lake, I really can’t find where 844 Virginia is ? What is the nearest intersection? Is it north Virginia south Virginia ,east Virginia or west Virginia? Where is it in relation to downtown Crystal Lake. I know that station 1 is next to city hall in downtown and I know that station 4 is on the south west end of town so where is station 3? Thanks.
