The black ladder looks nice but from a safety standpoint it’s not very good. Years ago a department near lake Geneva was operating their tower ladder at a lake Geneva fire and it had a black ladder. They were moving the ladder and lost it in the smoke and put the ladder into power lines. They sent 7 people to the hospital and all the electronics on the truck were destroyed. That’s just one of example of safety.

You’re right about that. White and traditional grey is the preferred color because of that. Infared devices can probably enhance the inspection process regardless of color.

I do like the appearance of the black ladders but I’m not convinced they’re the best option. Reason being, it’s more difficult to identify fatigue, cracks, and corrosion. In addition, although these ladders have lights, I’m not sure it can been seen as well. Definitely, a sharp looking truck!

Nice blend of color. I’m beginning to like these aerials painted any number of different colors now.
