PALATINE 50TH LOD DEATHS FEB 23rd1973
This from John Tobin:
Just got all the pictures together from the 50th anniversary and some new ones from a past members family.
For the past several years the Snorkel has been on display @ the FWD/Seagrave museum in Clintonville, Wi. I wanted to get it down here for the 50th and once again Plote came thru and “Low Boyed” it down here. It was here for the 2022 4th of July parade and it will return, probably forever after the 2023 4th of July parade.
The members of the PFD came thru with $$$ to do some much needed maintenance and to get the striping re-done to as close as possible to when it was delivered. Special thanks to Allen Thennes of “On call graphics” for putting up with my very specific wants and he did a great job.
I was hoping to see more at the memorial, however the ice storm the day before definitely put a damper on things.
The flag ceremony went off great, once again and it was great seeing past and present members coming out to honor those who died that day. I especially enjoyed seeing Chuck Kramer, many years retired now from Arlington Heights FD.

Excerpts from abc7chicago.com:
A 54-year-old woman was killed in a fire on the South Side Wednesday morning.
The home, on the corner of Princeton Avenue and 108th Street in West Roseland was fully engulfed by the time the call came in at around 6:40 a.m.
Upstairs, Marshall Lewis, who said he is a Cook County Sheriff’s sergeant, heard his smoke alarm going off and rushed to get out and call 911. He tried to save himself and his landlord, living downstairs.
The flames were so intense, it was hard to get to the victim inside. The 54-year-old woman, fire officials said, was found in her room.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Found on Facebook. Cars on fire at Addison Walmart.

Excerpts fromFox32chicago.com:
Five vehicles were damaged by fire in the parking lot of a Walmart on Wednesday in Addison around 10 a.m. at 1050 N. Rohlwing Road.
Fire officials say they think a mechanical issue – not foul play – caused the first car to catch on fire and then it spread.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

This from Daniel Hynd:
Photos from the explosion/fire at the Seneca Petroleum plant in Lemont earlier today 4-25-23.
Excerpts from abc7chicago.com:
An explosion possibly took place in an asphalt tank at the Seneca Petroleum plant in Lemont Tuesday morning. One person was killed in the fire and another was transported to Silver Cross Hospital.
OSHA officials said that both the person who died and the person who was injured were contractors on-site with M&J Industrial Services.
The Will County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed as 25-year-old Dru A. Worker of Homewood.
The sheriff’s office said multiple agencies responded, and the fire was put out after several hours. Fire personnel said it is not believed that any kind of hazardous material was released, and there is no danger to the public.
OSHA and ComEd were also called to the scene. Seneca Petroleum did not previously have any OSHA violations at the Lemont location.

Hello,My fire department is looking to donate a used set of dumbbells to a department who may need them. They are in a set from 5lb’s to 45lb’s. There is also a rack included. They are well used but are still functional. I would like to see them go to a new home rather than throw them away.If anyone is interested and would like some more information, please feel free to contact me at stefanilbfd@gmail.comThank you.
