This from Colton Latham:
New Lenox Fire Protection District Truck 61 has been out of service for a few months now waiting for parts. In the meantime, New Lenox has been using their new-to-them engine. It is a 2006 Pierce Enforcer and was formerly Manhattan Fire Protection District Engine 81. New Lenox purchased it from Manhattan around July of 2022. It is now the current frontline out of station 61 and will possibly be the reserve engine.
In other New Lenox news, the Sutphen engine that was at 63 is being torn apart and has been sold to a private buyer. This engine was formerly a demo unit used by the Chicagoland Motor Speedway and was then purchased by New Lenox. According to some of the firefighters, it worked well but had awful suspension. It will be gone by the end of 2023.

There have not been any talks of replacing the tanker. The sutphen engine has a blown motor and was costly to replace. There are 3 red chevy suv’s ordered for staff vehicles.

I could be wrong but I heard they would not replace the tender for a while. That apparatus usually goes on less than 10 calls a year. Fun fact, it used to be a milk tanker but was turned into a water tender.

I thought New Lenox was going to buy a new tender? Is that in the works yet?

I really hope they order the tower from Pierce, although I’ve been told New Lenox won’t stop buying Pierce anytime soon.

the X Lockport rig was sold to Markham in the last month I believe. From what I read on the New Lenox board meeting minutes, they are having A hard time finding parts for their truck. Their truck should be back up soon. They have an engine on order to replace engine 62. Engine 62 will become another reserve engine. I was told from a guy who works there, the new engine will be just like engine 64 and they hope to start an order for a new tower ladder in the next year or so.

please check your facts – the ladder is back in Frankfort. It went to the dealer for warranty work and minor accident damage.

Frankfort’s Rosenbauer is already broke?

MABAS 21, yes, the 2003 former Lockport engine went to Engine 63 for a while. It is now sitting outside the New Lenox public works sub-station waiting to be sold.
Mike L, with Frankfort having an arial not very far away and because of the close cooperation between the districts, I believe New Lenox has not seen a need to barrow an arial. While Frankfort has a reserve ladder truck, it has been filling in for Frankforts new Rosenbauer and Lockports old ladder truck is filling in for their new tower sense it is also gone. There is also no close reserve ladders and no need for one in New Lenox at this time.

How does an engine replace a truck for operations? Sounds like they’re justifying not needing a truck. If it was important to have one, they would have a spare or borrow one.

Colton, New Lenox purchased the former 2003 Lockport Pierce engine:

There’s photos of it as Engine 63 prior the 2019 being delivered.

MABAS 21 – unfortunately with “supply chain issues” that are still lurking, parts are hard to come by depending on what it is.

Michael M, I am mostly sure that 63 has the 2019 Saber and 64 has the 2020 Enforcer. I cannot recall the year of the Enforcer at 62.
MABAS 21, if I recall correctly, a part had sheered off ripping the rearest driver side airbag and damaging a few other parts. Also, which Ex Lockport engine are you referring to?

What is wrong with the tower ladder? Waiting several months for parts is absolutely insane.
Does NLFD still have the used former Lockport engine?

I am guessing Manhattan put their two Rosenbauers in service.
What years are the three Pierce engines? Are they 2017, 2019 and 2020? The newer Pierces are at 62, 63 and 64 if I am not mistaken.
