Excerpts from the DailyHerald.com:
No injuries were reported from a fire that began shortly after 10 p.m. in the cooking ventilation system and rooftop exhaust fans of Hugo’s Frog Bar in the Rivers Casino. The fire appears to have been sparked when grease that had accumulated in the hood and duct system ignited. The Des Plaines Fire Department reported the fire under control and extinguished just after 11 p.m. Fire damage was isolated to the kitchen hood and duct and a portion of the roof, and there was slight water damage elsewhere.
One of the evacuated patrons requested medical assistance and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with a nonlife-threatening issue.
While the casino reopened early Monday, Hugo’s remained closed.
Under the state’s COVID-19 rules, casinos can maintain normal operating hours, which for Rivers Casino means they are open 24 hours a day, but are only allowed 50% of total capacity.

Harry,
How smart would it be if you lived next door or even a few blocks from that Station, and you had an emergency? I’m pretty confident your thoughts and opinions on this would change. This is one of the most absurd directions I have ever seen from a Village Board! What is even more perplexing is, the Fire Chief was publicly asked if this was a good decision/recommendation, and he agreed with it. As I have said before, heaven forbid something happens in 13’s still district after the station is closed! Somebody is going to have some difficult questions to answer, and the finger pointing will begin.

What is DesPlaines current staffing and response? Did they cut staffing by taking a truck out of service or did they maintain staffing but replace the truck with a squad?

What was the reason for taking Truck 63 out of service? Was it a money issue? Elgin, Bensenville and Wood Dale all have financial issues. Bensenville passed a referendum and put their truck back in service. Wood Dale has not passed their referendum and has no truck. Glenview I think is being stupid, they of all the suburbs have no financial issues yet they are closing station 13 because it’s engine is only running 45 minutes out of a 24 hour shift.
People need to understand public safety, if they did, referendums would pass first time no issue.
I don’t think Des Plaines has a excuse for taking the second truck out of service.

What unit are they using as Squad 63? Did they switch 62 and 63? Do they have the arrow XT at 63 or did they move 63’s Arrow XT to 62? I am guessing this is one of their 05 Pierce Dash engine that is being used as Squad 63. Is Engine 61 a 2017 or 2018 Arrow XT?

Des Plaines still only running 1 truck instead of putting the second truck back in service after the last fatal fire. Nice going des plaines. You guys are working on trying to compete with Elgin and Glenview on who can take valuable equipment out of service and use your neighbors to substitute.
