It would be 7 (near west side), 9 (far northeast side near 88 and eola) or 12 (far southeast side at hafenrichter and eola).

Which station will the 7th Medic be at?

I could be off on my years but I’m thinking it was 2013 when the position was no longer being staffed due to budget reasons. Through attrition the 3rd chief was no longer filled.
But now, new chief, and a new role will bring the position back. Car 24 will serve as the EMS field chief and will be the incident safety officer at fires. Car 24 is under the EMS battalion chief. Each shift still has a shift commander in a battalion and the other battalion chief.
The 10th station site is on the north side of the outlet mall on Bilter road. That is suppose to be an engine, truck and medic house. There is no time line and little talk currently other than 24 and the 7th medic.

MABAS 21: Car 24 is coming back as the EMS/Safety battalion chief. Within the month we are hearing. And as far as station 13 (10th) the site was purchased and no other info has been passed along. So safe to say it’s on hold.

AFDude:
When/why was Car 24 taken O.O.S.? So the current BC’s are equals on shift? Where is Station 13 going to be? Thanks for your answers!

I dont know alarm response but they have 2 towers (east and west), straight stick downtown and 9 engines.
I believe their still is 2-3 engines and a truck plus ambos (1 or 2) pending on location.
Aurora had another third alarm. Two story dwelling on the west side this morning.

Does anyone have information regarding Aurora’s responses. How many engines, trucks, Chiefs on each alarm and what their staffing is.

Erik, the AFD utilizes slightly different terminology than what most readers are use to. A “still” response is one engine company (residential fire alarms, wires down, odor of gas, etc.). A “full still” is two engines and one truck (fully activated fire alarm, multi family, commerical, schools). A “box” for report of smoke or fire is two engines, one truck, one medic and a bat chief. Working fire gets a RIT response of one engine, one truck, a medic and a bat chief. A “second alarm” gets two more engines, a truck, a medic and a chief. A “third alarm” gets two more engines and a mutual aid truck and a medic. A “fourth alarm” gets two engines and a mutual truck and a medic. A “fifth alarm” is filled out by mutual companies.
As stated earlier we can fill out to a 4th alarm with the 9 engines, 3 trucks, 6 medics, and 2 battalions. 3 man engines and trucks. We are in the process of adding a 7th medic unit and bringing back the 3rd bat chief as a shift EMS/Safety chief.
Hope this helps.

AFDude99:
Thanks for the insight on the AFD. Two questions. Does Aurora still run with Car 24, the Shift Commander, in addition to Batts 1 & 2? Also is the proposed 10th station, near the outlet mall, underway for construction or is it tabled for further analysis and planning?
