Truck fire in Schaumburg, 6-8-16

Schaumburg companies were sent to the SB IL Route 53 local lanes just past I90 just after midnight on Wednesday (6/8/16) for fire in a semi-trailer. They encountered fire in a 40′ trailer that was almost fully-loaded with commercial uniforms. Battalion 5 requested a tanker from Long Grove and the Elk Grove Township to supply Engine 52 with two lines off. Schaumburg Engines 51 and 54 plus Squad 55 were all on the scene and had used their tank water.

Rolling Meadows Engine 16 and Hoffman Estates Engine 21 were also on the scene assisting with manpower during the almost two-hour process to remove the smoldering contents of the truck. Also at the scene were Schaumburg Trucks 52 and 53, and Schaumburg Ambulances 53 and 54.

5-Alarm fire in Salem, WI – 6-8-16

Excerpts from Fox6now.com:

Fifteen fire departments were called to the scene of a five-alarm fire on Wilmot Road in Salem (WI) on Wednesday, June 8th. More than 52,000 gallons of water had to be used to bring that fire under control. The building where it happened is a total loss after the blaze.

There are no hydrants in the area, so firefighters had to bring water to the scene. Water from the lake had to be utilized when the water level in Salem’s water tower became alarmingly low. Officials say if it had gotten any lower, the town’s water supply would have been threatened. That went on for about four hours until this fire was finally brought under control. The fire was contained to just the one building which has about 10 units. The building is a total loss. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment of possible heat exhaustion — but no one else was hurt.
