This from Larry Shapiro:
It’s the season for controlled or prescribed burns, so I followed a huge header Tuesday afternoon (3/31/15) to the Busse Woods Forest Preserve where the Cook County FPD Resource Management firefighters were burning in a large field. I walked in and stayed for about 45 minutes as they moved through the area. Here are some images from the burn area of what’s called the Nature Preserve on the north side of the Salt Creek.

First of all the pictures are almost a year old.not on a Sunday “Tuesday afternoon (3/31/15) ” there are private companies that are contracted that specialize in controlled burning any other questions?

I suggest you contact the forest preserve district of cook county for your answer. This particular burn you chose to post to is over one year ago. I do know that there are Burns conducted during weekdays. Several of these burns rely on volunteers for unpaid. The forest preserve district also uses private contractors for some of these burns so the cost may be the same whether it’s weekdays or weekends.

For clarification reasons, I meant controlled burning of wild glass along roadside. Can you please give an answer. Thank you.

What is the purpose for burning in Cook County? Why isnt it done during the week and not on a Sunday. Are Forest Preserve personnel getting payed overtime for this?
