Thats what most fire departments do…..it’s not economically feasible to outfit and equip apparatus (specifically ambulances) with an entire compliment of equipment when it may only run 5% of the time. This is especially true of ambulances, because of the need to replace medications fairly frequently due to expiration dates.
I’m not saying most departments leave reserve apparatus completely empty but many times equipment must be switched over to make an apparatus ready for service.

So, it’s not a fully-stocked reserve apparatus? That doesn’t make any sense. Why would you do that?

No, there is an A93 and an E93 at Station 3. Carpentersville’s reserve apparatus can only be put in service with items from the rig they are replacing, and take over that number. Therefore reserve ambulance can’t be called A94, since it is not really an ambulance sitting there.

It looks like there’s several pieces of reserve apparatus missing from the listings, especially Carpentersville. I think it’s all at Station 93. Did they forget to add these to the list?

I hope that the passport for Ambulance 93 at Carpentersville is not E93…that could be a problem if both the ambulance and engine are on scene together.
