I think many places are getting hydraulic ladder racks for the additional compartment space. In reality it is almost impossible to get a ladder off. The width of the rig with the rack down is around 13 feet. Try that on a side street. But with all the duties that are tasked upon suburban departments, the space is needed.

Hydraulic ladder rack. Was that really necessary? If it was me, I’d follow the philosophy of KISS wherever possible. Less to break down.

Interesting that Niles made this new rig Engine 2. As I recall, Engine 3 was several years older than the current engine 2.
Also, anyone have updates on Niles new ambo?
