This from Josh Boyajian:
Took a little ride over the border to Gary . Got a shot of one of their new engines. This is Engine 13, a 2012 Sutphen pumper. They have two other new Sutphen engines at Engine 7 and 11. They also have two new ladders which are HME. I attached a small shot of the cab door of New Truck 2.

These engines, along with the 2 HME quints, should be repainted by the end of the year. It has been approved by the chief, the union membership is going to pay for it.
The assignments probably aren’t permanent, one will probably go to Engine 1 once the construction has finished on 5th. So far the Sutphens are holding up, but there are valid issues pointed out by the engineers, lots of plastic parts. The 2 smaller squads have been reassigned to stations 1 & 13 and Squad 2 is now using former Engine 1’s Ferrara. The old Glenwood Engine is a reserve and OOS, the pump is shot. TL-7 is another one I wouldn’t look to see in-service anytime soon, the city was without an Truck for quite a while.

They will be painted blue over red as time allows. There is also a new HME quint at station 2 also white over red.

When they bought stock/demo units and aren’t going to pay the extra money to change the paint.

These rigs were Demos, The officer that day told me if they wanted them repainted, they would have to fund raise to pay for it. I had a typo, the 3 Engines are 13, 7, and 5.

When did Gary eliminate the red/blue color scheme

That’s really a handsome pumper. SUTPHEN builds a good product and they are one of the few that have been around longer than 100 years.
