This from Steve Redick:
3 photos … sent by Bill Friedrich from his archive. 54 E Hubbard, January 1958. A Mack Bulldog pressure wagon at workA nice shot of 109’s old joint back in the horse drawn era … amazed at how big the house looks. When you see it today it seems kinda old and small…at least to me.A 3-11 at about 61 and Dorchester … no real particulars other than that. did ya notice the pompier ladder on the side of what I think is an FWD truck? I bet the truck with its aerial up was horsedrawn at one time judging by the rickety look to the rear end.Feel free to add any thoughts or info..

The Franklin Park Fire Department requested a 2nd Alarm this afternoon for heavy fire in an auto repair business at 3305 Mannheim Road. Companies were forced to make a defensive attack which brought the fire under control within an hour.
This from Josh Boyajian:
I took in Franklin Park’s Fire this afternoon at 3305 Mannheim. Was a small building 50×100 with heavy fire throughout. Here are some of my photos!
The Chicago Tribune has a description of the fire:
A Franklin Park auto body shop had its roof cave in during an extra-alarm fire that brought firefighters from surrounding towns’ departments, including Chicago’s, and caused at least three minor accidents on a nearby overpass this afternoon, authorities said.
The fire at Intent Auto Body, 3305 N. Mannheim Road, started about 12:30 p.m. and was under control about an hour later. At one point, flames leapt several stories in the air from the one-story brick building, distracting several drivers on the nearby Mannheim Road overpass and causing at least three minor accidents, police on the scene said.

thanks Chris

The Woodstock Fire Protection District completed their burn downs of the model homes that were offered to them after the development failed. Previous posts outlining the training and burn-downs can be found HERE. This final installment involved a five-unit townhouse off of Route 47 (S. Eastwood Drive) north of Lucas Road. On Friday morning the 28th of December, firefighters loaded each of the units with straw and wood before setting them on fire. A small crowd was on-hand to observe the inferno, including Tim Olk and Larry Shapiro, both of whom photographed the event.
Several images from Larry Shapiro are posted below as well as a lengthy video.
