It was also a level 1 hazmat response and a third tower ladder, 37, was special called and deployed. The fire was on Western Boulevard, which makes a difference. A narrow two lane street instead of a four lane major road. At least one of the engines was fed via in-line pumping. Another engine was led out across Western Avenue and all six lanes had to be shut down creating quite the traffic jam. Hand lines were used to protect the exposures until the second and third tower ladders were positioned in sectors 2 and 4, respectively. It appeared to be what they used to call “a good stop”.
