Work is progressing towards production of the new TV show based on Chicago firefighters. Reportedly they filmed a structure burn this week and several of the actors are riding with Southside companies to gain experience and see what happens in the real world … which of course may have nothing to do with the reel world.

St. Charles firefighters were called to a house at 2010 Cambridge Dr shortly after noon on Tuesday (3-6-12) and found fire on the front porch of a two-story house. Heavy winds were pushing the fire into the house and the alarm was elevated to a MABAS Box Alarm.
The Batavia Patch reported that:
Six departments were called Tuesday afternoon to help battle a St. Charles house fire that sent one firefighter to the hospital.
The unnamed firefighter was treated and released from Delnor Hospital after suffering minor injuries while on the scene of the fire, located at 2010 Cambridge Drive.
John Tulipano went to the scene and:
I arrived in time for overhaul pictures, heavy fire on arrival completely burned the front wall all the way down to studs.
He submitted several images from the scene.

Though it’s not something related to the Chicago area … Firegeezzer.com has an article HERE which states that Hale Products with facilities in Conshohocken, PA and Ocala, FL will consolidate their operations in Florida and leave Pennsylvania where they were founded in 1914.
The Mobile Ventilation Unit that has been assigned to MABAS Division 1 was deployed Tuesday for the first time. Housed in Wheeling, MVU-1 was special called to assist the Schaumburg Fire Department at 1365 Mitchell Boulevard. A gas pipe inside a large commercial warehouse was broken and a significant amount of gas filled the building before the flow could be stopped. Schaumburg companies had overhead doors and skylight vents open and requested the MVU to assist in clearing the remaining gas from the building.
