The storms that passed through the area on Monday evening caused heavy damage to many communities. Beach Park requested a MABAS Box Alarm to get help with the damage in their district. Jeff Rudolph sent in some camera phone pictures from the staging area located at Beach and Sheridan.

With the exception of Waukegan no one else was hit that hard. Waukegan and Beach Park were hit the most. Zion even gave up two guys and a pick up truck way before the box was called because they wernt even that busy. There were at least 50 calls for people trapped in there homes,or mobile homes. And roof collapses, outside gas, leaks ext. Noaa and the weather service confirmed the tornado off shore ( water spout) which started at the state park and ended in Waukegan. Also it took a year for the state park to reopen cause of the damage. Thats what mabas is there for help. Its funny everyone thats not on a dept always thinks they know more. You should all be chiefs!!!!

Mq….so did just about every other department in that area…and miraculously they (even ALL Paid On Call departments) were able to handle their own sh*t

All with comments info only Beach Park had 250 calls for service in 1 hour not to mention , the first call was a collapse to a building at illinois beach state park. And multiple trapped residents in mobile homes and houses due to downed trees on their structures. Also a confirmed water spout 2 miles off shore. With only 5 guys on duty, They were busy dont judge unless it inconvenienced you.

I’m surprised they found any departments to give them companies….in my area (MABAS 10/12) everyone was so damn busy, that on anything except a very legitimate box alarm of fire, I would have imagined most departments taking a pass.

They pulled a 2nd for a disaster box I believe and a 3rd for a wildland box to clear trees and branches from the roads.

They boxed wires down. Other nearby towns ran way more calls w/o boxing anything. They pulled the same thing 2 weeks ago.
