Two workers from a private contractor were in a sanitary sewer on Route 53 west of Old McHenry Road near noon today when they were overcome by fumes which rendered them unconscious. The Long Grove Fire Department responded to the incident which is less than a mile from their station and found a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy assisting another individual with trying to pull one worker through the manhole.

Confined entry rules not followed. Glad both individuals will be OK.
