Anyone that has ever owned a black car knows, it’s hard to keep clean. The dirt and dust is much more noticeable than lighter colors. I don’t care about black out packages but on aerials, I wouldn’t say it’s the wisest choice. I guess my question is: what value do you get with all the black linex? I like linex on front bumpers since we all tend to sit on them when they’re hot. The linex keeps them a little cooler.

The blacked out package looks nice but yes I will agree for safety not the best also if the ladder has any cracks or broken welds that could be difficult to spot

I also wonder about black sticks/towers swinging around and not seeing power lines. All power lines are black, and with the main the same color, you might miss seeing a high voltage line.
Black also shouldn’t be one of the chevron colors.
Don’t get me started on black out packages. The public is getting fleeced for ego driven decisions.

They’ll be lucky to use the two front seats, much less the two back ones. Thet don’t need a pass through.cab.

The Current Truck 81 looks better than the new one in (my opinion). Of course the most important thing is performance on the Job and so can anyone show me how a black Tower Ladder will enhance the rigs on the Job Performance?
Nothing or next to nothing and so the Des Plaines Fire Department is just playing copy cat with their neighbor to east the Niles Fire Department and just because they have a Black Tower Ladder means that now Des Plaines needs a Black Tower Ladder. The Standard Silver or Alumimum or even white Tower Ladders are more visible especially at night so this thing about now painting Aerial Devices black is just another exercise in ridiculousness. And yes their neighbor to the south Park Ridge now has a black Tower Ladder as well.
Could this be the Fire Departments version of being “Woke”? It is beginning to remind of the late 60s and early 70s when many fire department went to Yellow fire apparatus for about 15/20 years.

Mike H – black is the new black. Lots of depts. ordering rigs with black trim, bumpers, wheels, ladders. I don’t care for that look either. I don’t care how many leds you put on a black aerial ladder, I imagine visibility at night/inclement weather is an issue.

Why is there a table in the middle of the back of the cab? Shouldn’t the cab be a pass through?

Would look better with chrome trim rings and chrome lug nuts that’s just my opinion
